About Us

EMDRNZ is a dedicated group of EMDR clinicians passionate about supporting the availability of safe and competent EMDR Therapy in New Zealand.

Founded in 2012, we are now a Not-for-Profit Society and follow the EMDR worldwide guidelines to help us in that process.

Growing from a handful of people, we now have 350 members.  We offer a yearly conference and workshop to update and support our membership.

The board members are up to 10 volunteers, who are elected at the AGM and meet monthly via the internet.

The objectives of EMDRNZ are to:

  • promote and support EMDR as a treatment modality in New Zealand

  • provide standards and guidelines for the education, training and professional practice of EMDR in New Zealand

  • provide for accreditation of therapists, case consultants, trainings and trainers

  • promote public awareness of EMDR

  • support research into the effectiveness of EMDR

Currently we do not offer EMDR trainings other than workshops connected with our yearly conference.  All Basic Trainings and other trainings are provided independently by the trainers themselves.

EMDRNZ Association does not have a complaints process or policy as all members are required to belong to their relevant professional bodies. Any complaints to be directed to the individual’s professional body.
