Welcome to the EMDRNZ Therapist Directory

This directory allows you to find EMDRNZ members providing EMDR therapy in your area. All of our members have completed the EMDR Training program that meets international guidelines.

To find an EMDR Therapist, please search by the therapist’s location, training level and if they are offering online sessions, are ACC registered and are accepting new clients.

If you are a therapist seeking someone to also provide Adjunct EMDR therapy please go to Adjunct EMDR Therapy page.

There are the following grades of EMDRNZ Training Levels:

  • EMDR Therapist

A registered health clinician who has attended and/or completed an accredited EMDR Basic Training. An EMDR Therapist is not a protected title - it means the clinician attended the Basic Training, but has not (yet) gone through the process of accreditation as an EMDR Practitioner or beyond.

  • Member of the EMDR-NZ Association

An individual who is a registered health professional, has completed an EMDR-NZ accredited Basic Training in EMDR Therapy and maintains active membership with the EMDR-NZ Association.

  • Accredited EMDR Practitioner

A registered health professional who has completed an EMDR Basic Training and has been practicing EMDR therapy for at least one year. They have met rigorous criteria for accreditation and demonstrated competency in delivering EMDR therapy. They maintain active EMDR-NZ Association membership and current registration with their respective professional regulatory board in New Zealand. For the full accreditation criteria for EMDR Practitioner see this document.

  • EMDR Consultant in Training (CiT)

An Accredited EMDR Practitioner who is actively working toward meeting the criteria to become an Accredited EMDR Case Consultant. CiTs have substantial experience in EMDR therapy and can offer valuable supervision to other therapists. However, supervision provided by a CiT does not count toward any formal accreditation or certification requirements. Consultants in training maintain active EMDR-NZ Association membership and current registration with their respective professional regulatory board in New Zealand.

  • Accredited EMDR Case Consultant

A senior EMDR clinician who, after becoming an Accredited Practitioner, has completed at least three years of clinical EMDR practice and demonstrated advanced competency in both EMDR therapy and case consultation/EMDR supervision. Case Consultants are qualified to provide EMDR supervision and consultation to other EMDR therapists, supporting their development through individual and group supervision. Case Consultants supervise therapists including those pursuing accreditation. They are also active members of the EMDR-NZ Association and hold current registration with their respective professional regulatory board in New Zealand. For the full accreditation criteria for EMDR Case Consultant see this document.

  • Facilitator

An Accredited EMDR Case Consultant who is qualified to assist in the delivery of EMDR Basic Training. Working alongside an EMDR Trainer, Facilitators support participants’ learning and skills development throughout the training programme. Facilitators maintain active EMDR-NZ membership and current registration with their respective professional regulatory board in New Zealand. Facilitators working with EMDR Institute® Trainers may also provide supervision as part of the five-hour supervision requirement following Part 1 and Part 2 of Basic Training.

  • Trainer

An Accredited EMDR Case Consultant who is qualified and authorised to deliver EMDR Basic Training in their respective country of practice. Trainers have met rigorous standards and bring extensive experience in EMDR practice and supervision. They hold active membership in EMDR-NZ Association and a current registration with their respective professional regulatory board in New Zealand.
