It is with much sadness that we remember Marie Young, previous EMDR NZ Board Chairperson in 2019 - 2020 who passed away on Wednesday 13th July 2022.
Marie was a vibrant woman who was passionate about EMDR Therapy and its development in New Zealand. Not only did Marie contribute to the development of EMDR in her community of Napier, but also nationally within her role as Chairperson.
Marie will be greatly missed by her EMDR Colleagues.
The New Zealand EMDR Association is affiliated with EMDR Asia and the worldwide alliance of national EMDR associations.
This website provides information to the greater EMDR community including clinicians, researchers, and the public that our members serve as well as offering training and accreditation to NZ based EMDR therapists.
EMDR is designated as an effective treatment by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Australian Phoenix Australia – Centre for Post-traumatic Mental Health, the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs, the Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as well as many other international health agencies. This powerful psychotherapy approach has helped over an estimated two million people of all ages relieve many types of psychological distress.
